The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event is ALL GO for this weekend (April 29-May 1) at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis with some schedule changes made to take advantage of what looks to be a very favorable Friday, Saturday and reasonable Sunday weather forecasts.
Everyone appears antsy to go racing, as are we. We understand the impact of travel costs and it would appear that this weekend may allow all of us the opportunity to enjoy drag racing.
Unlike the Ohio Valley-area to the south and northern portions of the Division, Lucas Oil Raceway has not had flood-like rains. Speaking with Lucas Oil Raceway-staff the grounds, which keep in mind there are a lot of, are in reasonably good condition and not a concern for the weekend.
Changes to the schedule involve moving Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp’s second qualifying session to Friday evening (sunset 8:31 p.m.). Their two sessions on Saturday then become the third / final round of qualifying and first round of eliminations. Super Street first round is being moved from Sunday morning to Saturday evening and if conditions permit the second round of Stock, Super Gas, Super Stock and Super Comp may be run Saturday evening. In all cases no runs would be lost.
If weather forecasts were to deteriorate for Sunday the possibility of cutting a run from Top Alcohol Dragster & Funny Car exists with their first round possibly moved to Saturday afternoon (what would have been their 3rd session) but this decision is not planned at this time.
